This central riverside site in Truro is owned by Tesco, the retail giant that chose to relocate their trading store to a new location, thus freeing up a site for urban regeneration.
The site is cut off from the city centre, caught between the very busy dual carriageway and the river. To focus the site away from the road and towards the waterfront, we laid out a cellular design, in which each group of buildings encloses a public space.
This cuts off the noise pollution from the road, encloses the retail areas, and leads pedestrians through progressive enclosed spaces, through to a waterfront boulevard.
