 MYDDLETON HOUSE

MYDDLETON HOUSE IS HOME TO HOUZZ UK

 Islington, London

PROJECT INFORMATION

Project name: Myddleton House

Location: Islington

Sector: Workplace

Client: Monteagle Barlow Trust

Status: Complete

Services: Architecture and planning

Type: Restoration

Area: 26,000 sq ft

The refurbishment and extension of the Pivotal Building at 123 Pentonville Road in Islington, formally known as ‘Myddleton House’, has now completed.

Our proposals increased the current building area by 500sqm with the addition of a new fifth storey. Above this, the new rooftop terrace has extensive views across the London skyline.

An extension to the rear of the property was also designed to accommodate additional locker and shower provisions for cyclists. Such facilities are more necessary than ever, with urban business communities becoming more conscious of their health and environment.

To consolidate the appearance, the existing brick has been ‘tinted’ to create a more contemporary feel. This technique is a low-cost solution to a common problem of reconciling old brick work with modern extensions and additions.

Our design sees the parking area behind the building partially converted into a garden. The street entrance has been substantially upgraded with high quality landscaping materials and feature-lighting, creating a striking presence on the Pentonville Road.

The building is now occupied by Houzz UK, a website and online community about architecture, interior design and decorating, landscape design and home improvement.
