PROJECT INFORMATION
Project Name: Tottenham Court Road
Location: Tottenham Court Road, London
Sector: Urban Design
Client: Amey plc
Status: Complete
Services: Architecture and planning
Type: Renovation
Area: 50,000 sq ft
On Tottenham Court Road, we developed the London headquarters for the British Transport Police, a new police station, and a Marks and Spencer’s new format food store.
This project is part of a larger Private Finance Initiative and Facilities Management project for London Underground, provided by Amey Ventures.
The complex mixed-use development had to be designed to incorporate the complexities of the Home Office high security requirements, on a tight urban site.
The site being within the Bloomsbury Conservation Area required careful and lengthy negotiation with the Planning Authority and local Conservation Groups.
As a result, the massing and external finishes reflect the differing identities of the busy Tottenham Court Road and the quieter Charlotte Street and Coram Fields area to the rear.
